Before becoming known as Batur Natural Hot Spring, this area was referred to as the Toya Bungkah Hot Spring by the local community.
The phrase Toya Bungkah is derived from two words: Toya, meaning water, and Bungkah, meaning a large block of stone. Literally, Toya Bungkah is the water that flows or emerges from the crevices of large rock formations.
The hot spring maintains a constant temperature of 38°C to 40°C, formed by post-caldera volcanic activity from Mount Batur.
